22 & 31 Hour Tuna Trip Tackle

6/0 reel or equivalent, 60lb. or 80lb. test line. Bait hooks from 6/0 to 8/0 and/or 8oz. to 12oz. diamond jigs.
 Spinning rod with 12lb. to 20lb. test line & 1/0 - 3/0 hooks for Mahi.
 
Bait is provided by the boat.

Tilefish Tackle for 31 Hour Tuna/Tile/Mahi trips

4/0 to 6/0 Reel or equivalent, (preferably 6/0).
Heavy boat rod, 50Lb to 80lb. Power Pro Line or equivalent
(mono line can be used, not recommended, because of stretch), use at least 300 yards of Power Pro over mono backing.
4/0 - 7/0 Bait Holder hooks, sinkers from 20OZ TO 4LBS.
Electric reel would be advantageous, (We do not have electric reels)
TACKLE CAN BE PURCHASED ABOARD THE BOAT

 Fish on the bottom with a rig similar to a fluke rig.

Usually one hook tied to a dropper loop close to the sinker, 18” to 24” leader. A high-lo rig may also be used.

The bait used is squid, mackerel fillet, clams. (Squid or mackerel are best.
